The score comes from EcoVadis. The evidence comes from you.
EcoVadis scores companies against its own methodology using the evidence they submit. We help you build that evidence — across environment, labour, ethics, and procurement — before you submit it.
In short
EcoVadis is a third-party platform that rates companies' sustainability performance across environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement, based on documentary evidence the company submits. Prakrti prepares Indian manufacturers for EcoVadis assessment by strengthening policies, evidence, and data across all four themes ahead of submission. EcoVadis itself performs the scoring; Prakrti does not issue or influence the rating.
Why EcoVadis assessments matter to Indian suppliers
Multinational buyers increasingly require suppliers to hold an EcoVadis assessment, or reference EcoVadis scores directly in procurement decisions. For an Indian manufacturer supplying into European or global buyer networks, a low or missing score can affect qualification for tenders independent of price or quality.
How EcoVadis scoring works
EcoVadis assesses four themes — environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement — weighted by industry and company size, based entirely on documents and data the company uploads: policies, certifications, measurable outcomes, and supporting evidence. Companies with strong underlying practices but weak documentation often score lower than the reality of their operations, because EcoVadis scores what is evidenced, not what is asserted.
What we prepare
We review your current policies and practices against each of the four EcoVadis themes, identify documentation gaps — a missing environmental policy, an absent supplier code of conduct, insufficient measurable outcome data — and help you build or strengthen the evidence before you submit. Where the environment theme requires emissions or energy data, this connects directly to the GHG inventory work we do elsewhere.
We do not complete the EcoVadis questionnaire on your behalf as a substitute for your own disclosure, and we do not have any influence over the score EcoVadis assigns. Our work ends where EcoVadis's independent assessment begins.
Common questions
Does Prakrti issue EcoVadis ratings?
No. EcoVadis is an independent platform that scores companies based on submitted evidence. Prakrti helps a company prepare and strengthen that evidence across the four EcoVadis themes ahead of submission, but has no role in the scoring itself.
What are the four EcoVadis assessment themes?
Environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Each theme is weighted according to the company's industry, size, and location, and scored based on policies, actions, and measurable outcomes evidenced in the submission.
How long does EcoVadis preparation take?
It depends on how much documentation already exists. A company with established environmental and HR policies but no consolidated evidence file moves faster than one building policies from scratch; most gaps are found in measurable outcome data and supply chain documentation.
Can EcoVadis preparation improve an existing score?
Yes, for companies that have already been assessed, a review of the previous scorecard against the four themes typically identifies specific, addressable gaps ahead of the next assessment cycle.
Why do EU buyers ask for EcoVadis scores from Indian suppliers?
Many multinational buyers use EcoVadis as a standard, comparable way to assess supplier sustainability performance across a global supply base, and increasingly set minimum score thresholds as a qualification requirement independent of a supplier's home market.
